Let's go: Japan Touch Haru - Lyon! Massive update of the demo


Nyan, hello good people !

I'll be here at Japan Touch Haru to pitch Warcat parade in front of professionals of the industry! This will take place at Lyon, in France, the next week-end (13 and 14 May 2023). Go support your local catboy! Nyan.

I am glad to say my personal life is advancing for the best and so does Warcat Parade, since the level design is almost done! So let's stop the chit-chat and let's anounce that the demo has been updated! Here are the full list of changes!

The most significant change is :

You can now play Warcat parade with a controller!

And now, here is the full devlog! Please note the demo still have only one level!

Demo update

  • Fixed a bug when bullets were out of the screen (which caused lags)
  • Made boss 4 phase 5.
  • Improved boss 4 phase 1.
  • Made boss 4 phase 6. Boss 4 done!
  • New foe for level 5 : the crocodile!
  • Started level design of level 5.
  • Made 2 variants for the crocodile.
  • Continued level design for level 5.
  • Made a variant for the viper foe
  • Continued level design for level 5.
  • Made a new foe. Meet the skater mouse!
  • Made a new bullet.
  • Fixed a bug with the hitbox of spinning bullets lol.
  • Finished level design of Level 5.
  • Made a new bullet.
  • Made boss 5 phase 1.
  • Started to level design the final level.
  • Started to do the background of level 5.
  • Fixed a bug when spinning bullets were destroyed (for a collision with player or its ultima)
  • Fixed a bug with the pause panel.
  • Added juice. Enemies are now blinking when hit and they go kaboom when killed, making beautiful particles!
  • Made a new bullet !
  • Made a new enemy. Meet the slime!
  • Fixed a bug when enemies were shooting even when dead.
  • Revamped the cockroach grade 1.
  • Made a new bullet, also made boss 5 phase 2.
  • Made the Game Over music and implemented it.
  • Made boss 5 phase 3.
  • Fixed a bug with “white cat” playstyle where some bullets could be badly oriented.
  • Nerfed “white cat” playstyle.
  • Updated the page on itch.io
  • Made tons of new assets, mostly bullets.
  • Made boss 5 phase 4.
  • Continued background of level 3.
  • Made boss 5 phase 5.
  • (Finally) finished to draw the background of level 3. No more placeholders for level 3!
  • Put the background of level 3 to replace the old one.
  • Made boss 5 phase 6.
  • GUI revamped.
  • Made boss 5 phase 7. Boss 5 finished!
  • Made a new phase for the first boss because why not. Will be included in the demo! Yey.
  • Revamped the design of the menus.
  • Improved a lot of aspects of the game just by adding come white contours to most bullets. Hurray for visibility!
  • Fixed a bug with some foes in level 4.
  • Fixed a bug when spinning bullets weren’t spinning.
  • Made the GUI more eye-friendly.
  • There was something wrong with a foe from level 3.
  • Added more outlines to bullets.
  • Made the backgrounds a bit more colorful!
  • Continued the drawing of the background of level 4.
  • Made final boss phase 1.
  • Added controller support.
  • Made a version for conventions!
